"promised.lan" - misteradamx - 03-12-2025 Rack It's a Panduit cabinet. Its massive, but it only cost me $75 and has all the panels. It even came with keys and some extra PDUs (that I intend to sell, eventually). If we ever move or buy a house, I'll likely just sell it and get a smaller one. Network I run a UDM SE, which I upgraded to from an Erlite 3. It does everything I could ever need and then some. I have one camera currently, will be adding more now that the weather is nice. Additionally, I have several switches around the house and I also run a Rasp Pi 5 8GB with a POE hat. Storage QNAP TS-231P on the left. Two 6TB Seagate Ironwolf drives. Not super pleased with the QNAP product, I much prefer Synology for what I need. This serves as my media storage. Synology DS213J on the right. It's two 3TB Ironwolf drives. It stores my projects. Server Cisco UCS C220 M4s. This was surplus'd from work, it ran our CUCM for awhile. We had two but my boss got the other one. I have two 512GB SSDs with Proxmox installed and then there's 6 2TB SSDs for storage in PVE. I have a few VMs on it. I also added a second CPU and added more RAM. (I'll add more specs tomorrow). Despite being a 1U server, I have the fans in quiet mode and even if they ramp up a bit, it's still no longer than what's normally going on downstairs so you barely notice it. Here's my VMs so far:
The two that get used the most, besides Plex, are LubeLogger and Tandoor. LL is for tracking vehicle maintenance and upgrades. Tandoor is recipe storage. pending project: I have a Unicom S-1604 R4 at work that I will probably bring home and use for something like TrueNAS so I can consolidate the Synology and QNAP. RE: "promised.lan" - gibby - 03-12-2025 This is awesome! I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what VMs/Services are but mind going into what each service is (minus plex)? Minecraft, obviously because I yearn for the mines. I use LubeLogger in an LXC Container, it is used for tracking vehicle maintenance, upgrades and other things. I use it to keep track of what I'm doing to my cars. Tandoor is just recipe storage, also in an LXC Container. Zabbix is SNMP Monitoring. My install at home gets used a lot to test things I want to deploy at work with our Zabbix install there. Homebox is also an LXC Container. It's an organization system for the home. You can track things you purchase, how much you got them for and where you got them. Homepage is a dashboard, also an LXC Container. We use it at work as well. RE: "promised.lan" - JollyRgrs - 03-12-2025 thanks Gibby for asking the question and thanks misteradamx for the details. lubelogger looks awesome. I've thought about making my own thing (even one time tried to design my own db for it, etc.) and never got anywhere. This looks exactly like what I wanted. homebox is exactly what I need and never thought it existed ![]() Now, I gotta add 2 more lxc containers to my own homeprod. Also, Tandoor looks good, too... I might have to also nab that one. RE: "promised.lan" - misteradamx - 03-13-2025 (03-12-2025, 04:53 PM)JollyRgrs Wrote: thanks Gibby for asking the question and thanks misteradamx for the details. There's an app for Tandoor on Android. (I'm not on iPhone, sorry). It's called Kitshn. I just started using Homebox, the only item in it right now is my wife's ninja. I need to quit playing Skyrim and update it lol RE: "promised.lan" - PeaFour - 03-13-2025 k...keep me posted RE: "promised.lan" - JollyRgrs - 03-16-2025 welp, I installed homebox, lubelogger, AND tandoor. They all look really good. The trick is actually using them (so time will tell, eh?) Interesting that all 3 of those seemed to be most easily installed as docker and you went with LXC instead? I'm curious. I prefer NOT dealing with Docker... but I do have a VM with docker so that I can run things that I have no other choice. how did you decide to do LXC for these? and are they just docker on each lxc or is it the non-docker installs, @misteradamx ? That being said, the amount of items adding up on my docker VM are making me need to consider a reverse proxy to keep all the ports straight RE: "promised.lan" - misteradamx - 03-17-2025 (03-16-2025, 10:34 PM)JollyRgrs Wrote: welp, I installed homebox, lubelogger, AND tandoor. I don't have a lot of first hand experience with Docker and the LXC script from the github just did everything for me. |
